South Korea’s Generation Gap

Updated: Aug 27, 2022

South Korea has undergone immense change in the last couple of decades.

Consequently, different generations have grown in radically different environments. Such a difference leads to a noticeable generation gap. For instance, there are language barriers between generations--younger folk come up with new words and older words are forgotten.

This shatters the vehicle of communication between generations, an integral part of a democracy. Moreover, the aging population of South Korea puts a tax burden on younger generations that are already facing economic mishaps such as debt and lack of employment.
